Bashkiria: from the earth and the sky

Part 1

A team of novice yet daring tourists is on a mission to take in as much of Bashkiria as they can. They raft down rivers and streams squeezed between the foothills of the Southern Urals, ascend their highest peaks and enjoy breathtaking views of the spectacular landscape. Meanwhile, the locals harvest a myriad of gifts offered by Bashkir’s bountiful nature: they roam the forests on horseback in search of wild honey, make musical instruments out of stems of Quray plants and drink mares' milk – kumis - which is believed to have healing properties. High above, a reckless paraglider flies, enjoying a bird's-eye view of the scenery. Looks like the idyllic setting of a Japanese animation, but you never know when it might all go wrong!
