Corrupt reality of the refugee crisis in Italy

The 250 miles of water separating Libya and Sicily prove to be deadly for thousands of refugees trying to make the passage. The lucky ones are saved by Italian coast guards or NGO rescue boats. They join three million Africans who had fled crises in their own countries and abuse in Libya, where some spent years as slaves. Now, Italians have started to question the altruism of rescuers, as investigations into corrupt schemes employed by the international mafia are underway.
