With Mother’s Day just around the corner, workers at the Kachkanar Mining Complex are busy preparing for a concert at the local cultural centre. It’s not only mine workers whose jobs require nerves of steel.
Olga Vakhrusheva is in charge of organising the big day for all the mothers at the Kachkanar facility. Apart from watching rehearsals and dealing with problems, she helps performers overcome stage fright. Olga says it’s a Herculean task to turn workers into shining stars.
Lyudmila has worked in the complex canteen for 30 years, serving food to hungry quarry workers, and now will be getting up on stage. Natalia Sedykh, a mother of seven children and one more on the way, also intends to appear, despite her worries.
