No Way Back: The Animal Kingdom. Bringing the Grey Whale population from the brink of extinction
A third of the world's flora and fauna may become extinct in the next 50 years due to actions of one species - man. Western Grey Whales were thought to be extinct by the 1950s until a few animals were spotted off the coast of Sakhalin in Russia's Far East. A joint effort by environmental scientists and NGO's with support of a Russian oil company is working to protect and study these spectacular sea mammals. Their population has grown to almost 300; however, many more species still need saving.
