Sklif (Ep11) Overwork lands a 22-year-old woman in an organ transplant department

Five years ago, Violetta contracted flu. She decided to carry on working and tough it out, which unfortunately led to kidney failure. Violetta had to resort to dialysis. This meant she became dependent on the procedure; she couldn’t travel or have kids and her life expectancy was drastically reduced. Her only way out of this dire situation was a kidney transplant. However, her hometown had a very questionable record for this procedure. Violetta decided to move to Moscow and undergo surgery there.

She was admitted to the most famous Russian hospital, Sklif. But even the hospital’s top-grade equipment and the high professionalism of the doctors couldn’t safeguard her from every side effect of the transplant. Right after surgery, Violetta contracted a very rare complication - particularly unexpected for someone just 27 years old.
