The Afar people reside in the East African countries of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti. In Djibouti, they make up over a third of the country’s population. Predominantly Muslim, they have maintained their nomadic ancestors' unique traditions. The Afar wedding celebration provides one of the best examples of how these customs and traditions are still practised today.
