Testimonies of domestic violence survivors

Domestic violence has many faces, with tragedies happening behind closed doors leaving countless victims in their wake. Only the most atrocious stories of women abused or killed by family members come to the attention of Russian society. Many cases remain ignored until the worst happens. Victims are often afraid to ask for help. Still, a new domestic violence law will hopefully protect women from being blamed and convicted for defending themselves, and maybe prevent other crimes happening in the future.
