Milking the Farmer

A US farmer’s fight to get back the money the IRS seized

Randy Sowers is a Maryland dairy farmer. In 2012, he received a visit from US Treasury agents. His crime? Paying the wrong amount of cash he made from selling his milk at farmers’ markets into his bank. Without a trial, the IRS seized over $60,000 from his bank accounts and refused to give it back. When he spoke to the Press, things got worse. The farmer tells RTD what it’s like when US government institutions trample on private property, due process and freedom of speech.
