Syrian Diaries
9 years of war in Syria through the eyes of a TV cameraman and disabled vets
The war in Syria, now in its tenth year, has left scars on the people fighting and reporting on it. RTD looks back with those who have been on the frontline. Sameer Alfarra, a TV cameraman, recalls his first car explosion during the Arab Spring of 2011. Then “the stench of war and burning” became his new normal, and his homeland turned into a stranger. He explains what it’s been like covering the conflict, the losses he’s faced, and why he will never leave his land to someone else.
