Susanna takes a big step by leaving the leper colony for the first time in decades. She’s amazed at how the outside world has changed, but still feels alone with her disfigurement. Vladimir also makes a big decision – he decides to go to Ukraine to visit the daughter he’s never seen. However, he becomes despondent when his plans are thwarted by the political crisis and he can’t get a flight to Odessa.
