Sklif (Ep12) Too old for life-saving surgery?

Vladimir is a grandfather with a big family. He has been taking care of his health by regularly going to the doctors for a check-up. Unfortunately, one such visit brought distressing news: he had cirrhosis of the liver and needed surgery. He has been waiting for the right organ for four years and it has finally arrived.

Being an elderly patient an operation is a risky prospect for Vladimir. There is a lack of donor organs and a long waiting list. There is also the chance that the operation could kill him. However, if the surgery is successful it will be life-saving. The doctors at Sklif must weigh up all the pros and cons before making their decision.
