Sklif (Ep26) A heart transplant for a young mom

Ekaterina is only 35, but her heart is already failing her. It’s malfunctioning so badly that she could die at any moment. A heart transplant is her only option. It’s complicated surgery and even if it goes well, there is still a risk of the donor organ being rejected.

Fortunately, the operation will be performed by Dr Anzor Khubutia, an experienced surgeon and the head of Russia’s most famous hospital, Sklif. The young mother was also lucky to get a donor organ in time. Now she has a good chance of recovery. However, getting lucky like that is always bitter-sweet, as it results from the death of the organ donor. Dr Anzor still remembers the first donor he recovered a heart from and the tragic story of that man’s death.
