The girls are nervous ahead of their jump from an IL-76 aircraft – one of the most dangerous planes to parachute from. Some were haunted by ominous dreams the night before, and others make sure to pack their good luck charms. After a 3am start, the cadets are exhausted as they stand in the airfield in 22kg of gear going through multiple pre-jump equipment checks. The plane finally arrives and the paratroopers file in. In the back of everyone’s mind is one question: will their training be enough to get them to the ground safely?
