For young Afghans, the Taliban regime saw the end of colourful, fashionable clothing. The extreme regime banned fashion, music and film, creating a Dark Age. Since the fall of the Taliban, there has been an emergence of a revitalised fashion industry in Afghanistan. Once again, designers are creating colourful traditional garments as we discover in the film Art at the Stake. In Africa, an underground society of fashionable men has developed who, despite living in slums, dress in the most extravagant designer outfits they can afford.
