The Atlantic Ocean near the coast of Western Africa has been one of Russia's fishing grounds for decades. But these fish-rich waters also draw a lot of international competition, which gets fiercer every year as the number of fish dwindle, and can often cross the line of being legal.
The Albacore mission is now in its second year, patrolling the waters off Gabon’s shores in cooperation with the country’s government. Six marines and four inspectors sail with the Bob Barker, inspecting foreign fishing boats to make sure they’re legal. The boarding team consists of Baptiste Brebel (1st Mate, France) and Giuseppe De Giorgi, a former Italian Navy Chief of Staff and Sea Shepherd rookie, as well as Michelle Clarke Deckhand (Great Britain), who is on her 7th campaign aboard the Bob Barker.
Corvette Soobrazitelny and submarine Magnitogorsk both reach the training battle area. And now, after all the preparation and planning, it’s time to show what their crews are capable of. They’ll be trying to outsmart each other using all resources available to them, including amphibious armoured vehicles and torpedoes. Each team is determined to win this battle.
Captain Nagornov’s tactic aboard the Magnitogorsk is to sneak up on the corvette underwater. Meanwhile, captain Slonov’s corvette is preparing a surprise for its enemy – the marines in armoured vehicles are ready to be deployed in the water. But, as the military exercise commences, the two teams notice the presence of a third party: a mysterious aircraft that seems to have its own agenda.
After finishing their combat vehicle training, the marines begin preparing for a parachute jump. At the same time, the corvette Soobrazitelny crew members practice their underwater de-mining techniques one final time, while submarine Magnitogorsk enlists the help of a reconnaissance aircraft. The time has come for the two Baltic Fleet vessels to test their military prowess against each other!
It’s spring cleaning time aboard the Magnitogorsk. The submarine has to look its best for the upcoming stand-off with corvette Soobrazitelny. The captain of the latter, Aleksandr Slonov, pays a friendly visit to his old friend and soon-to-be rival, Vladimir Nagornov. To fire up their competitive spirit, the teams of both vessels decide to play a football match.
The crew of submarine Magnitogorsk receive the results of their exams and find out who of them are the brainiest. On board the corvette Soobrazitelny, lieutenant Karakash is getting ready for an exam as well. The results may influence his career. Meanwhile, the marines continue their training in an armoured vehicle: today they’ll be firing from the cannon.
While the crew of corvette Soobrazitelny is painting their ship ahead of the big parade, their brothers in arms, the marines, learn to drive an armoured vehicle. The Magnitogorsk submarine, meanwhile, is navigating the Kaliningrad Sea Canal – a narrow manmade canal created back in 1901, a task that demands much skill and precision.
Magnitogorsk submarine is about to start resurfacing, but first the crew needs to conduct some safety procedures. Meanwhile, the team of corvette Soobrazitelny is joined by marine new recruits. The marines undergo an obstacle course with a psychologist who knows how to make them work as a team.
14 women on a sail boat, but this is no pleasure cruise. The Sea Dragon is taking them on a scientific expedition to the Caribbean. On a mission to explore the extent of plastic pollution in the Atlantic Ocean, their main focus is the proliferation of micro-plastic that poisons fish and can harm humans. They also hope to educate children about how to reduce the use of plastic.
In 2014, 18 people sailed across the Atlantic Ocean on 18th-century tall ship, The Shtandart. In this film, those on board tell their stories of how they joined the crew, reveal what fascinates them about life at sea, and explain why it takes an ocean to quench their thirst for adventure.
Today is D-Day, when Anna and Pavel must demonstrate what they’ve learnt with the marines. Pavel leaves in a boat, tasked with clearing the area of mines. Anna follows him accompanied by an assault group in an armoured vehicle. Together they must neutralise a threat in the hills where a “terrorist stronghold” is based.
Anna and Pavel start the day with a gruelling early-morning exercise session, and that’s just the beginning of a long day full of challenging training! Pavel must learn how to locate landmines without stepping on them, while Anna sacrifices her manicure in the name of preparing an armoured vehicle to go into water. Finally, they get to ride this amphibian Navy machine. Will they sink or swim?
Anna and Pavel are in the city of Vladivostok, the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet. They join a group of marines known as “The Ussuriysk Tigers” in a bid to earn the right to wear their distinctive black berets. They’ll also learn the trick to keeping a large armoured vehicle afloat, as well as how to make a bed to perfection.
Anna and Pavel are on duty aboard the corvette Grad Sviyazhsk. While Pavel trains with live grenades, Anna demines the surrounding sea with a heavy machine gun. She also learns about the gory side of the mess room and finds out why a woman on a ship is considered bad luck.
