Unique must-watch Turkey documentaries with a twist

RTD’s Turkey documentaries investigate the complex and hidden world of Turkish politics, and the sensitive memories of war. In a unique five-part series, RTD shines light on the mysterious rise of Fethullah Gulen, the conservative preacher and educator who challenged the secularists’ hold on the Turkish State but ended up accused of inciting the 2016 coup against President Erdogan. An RTD crew also revisits the Cyprus crisis, in which Turkey took control of 37% of the island, resulting in its partition. A trip with Greek and Turkish Cypriots to the homes they abandoned on the other half of the island explores the possibility of healing following that tragic conflict.
