How Qatar, the first Middle Eastern country to host the FIFA World Cup, is getting ready for the event
When Qatar was chosen to be the next World Cup host — it raised concerns. The country is too hot, too small to have enough facilities, and alcohol is prohibited for religious reasons. Konstantin Rozhkov, RT’s correspondent, travelled there to determine how the country is dealing with these challenges. The results of this research were impressive. The competition was moved to late autumn to solve the heat problem, and the stadiums were equipped with personal air conditioners for every guest and a unique high-end cooling system for players. Other roadblocks were overcome with flying colours as well. Qatar is determined to impress. The country’s football team also plans to surprise the audience on the field. So how are the preparations going and what should we expect?
