The exploits of Sgt. Raul Benavidez during the Vietnam War could have been written by Hollywood. The Marine was decorated with the US Medal of Honor for his bravery in saving many lives in 1968. He volunteered to aid a platoon surrounded by the enemy. What ensued was a six-hour firefight, which left Sgt Benavidez wounded 28 times by bullets and shrapnel. His heroism on the day earned him the nickname of the ‘Real-life Rambo’.
