True Love
Spinal muscular atrophy isn’t an obstacle for this couple
People would tell Anna her relationship with Grigory would become “a burden” or “a cross she’ll carry all her life.” She never felt this way about her boyfriend, who has spinal muscular atrophy, a rare genetic condition causing his muscles to deteriorate. Anna says, loving him comes “naturally” and “isn’t an act of courage.”
When Grigory was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, doctors told his parents he wouldn’t live past the age of five.
RTD visits the couple as they prepare for their wedding. Anna and Grigory tell their love story and show why their relationship is no different from everyone else’s.
Anna and Grigory go on dates as other couples do.
