The horror and anguish of surviving families explored in RTD’s concentration camp documentaries
Three-quarters of a century after the Holocaust, the trauma still reverberates around the world. For RT correspondent Paula Slier the link is personal. Her film 119 Lives Unlived is an odyssey following the fate of a distant cousin who was murdered by the Nazis in a concentration camp. Some of the Russian survivors of the camps went on to become athletes, and their inspiring story is told in the documentary Champions of the Spirit. The athletes’ performance shocked the world at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
