When Ali leaves school, he wants to be a journalist and learn languages. Seven years ago, he was kidnapped off the street by Islamic terrorists and forced into building tunnels beneath his hometown of Douma. The brutality of the work took its toll on him and the other kids forced into bondage. The devastated town was retaken by Syrian government forces in 2018. Ali is now back at school, trying to catch up and rebuild his future.
