Sackler Donations No Longer Welcome

Institutional gifts from the Sackler family, owners of Purdue Pharma linked to the opioid epidemic in the United States, are no longer welcome. Tufts University in New York has removed the Sackler name from its medical school. The Metropolitan Museum in New York has refused money from the family, as has the National Portrait Gallery in London. As lawsuits against Purdue mounted the company filed for bankruptcy to shield the family fortune.
