The Stolen Doll: over-reaction of Phoenix police officer gets him fired

26 May

A police officer in Phoenix, Arizona, was fired after video of a shoplifting arrest at gunpoint went viral. The city’s police chief said the incident adversely affected the department. The video shows the officer, gun drawn, shouting at a couple and their two children in a car. He’d been called to investigate the suspected theft of a doll. The couple’s four-year-old had taken it without their knowledge, and they are now suing the police department.
