Japanese ballerina builds career in Russia
Marina Shibayama, a Japanese girl with a Russian name, was fond of dancing at an early age. When she discovered the world of ballet, she wanted to turn the hobby into a lifestyle. That was when she decided to move to Russia to join the ballet academy. Her journey opened doors to whole new worlds, of culture, food, weather and many other aspects of life, which are very different to Japan! Marina has lived almost half of her life in Russia that they call her ‘the Russified Japanese girl’ because she could combine the best of these cultures; prudence and organization alongside openness and discipline. In this episode of No Limits, Marina shares her unique ballet adventures in which dance, language, and determination join forces.
