Notes from Donbass
War reporter gathers soldiers' stories whilst delivering aid to Donbass
As war correspondent Nikolay Tsonku accompanies the humanitarian aid mission to Donbass, he exposes to view, a few days in the life of fighters defending Donbass from Ukrainian nationalists. These young men gave up family comfort and bravely endured intense gunfire, as well as mortar attacks on the frontlines. One of them, codenamed Aksay, used to be a pastry chef but came to defend his homeland when duty called. Despite offers to become the unit's cook, Aksay insisted that he would be of greater service on the frontlines, knowing that the lives of Donbass civilians depend on the work Donbass fighters carry out daily.
