Remembering Natalia Molchanova, the Russian Queen of Free Diving
26 July
In the world of freediving, Natalia Molchanova was the Russian queen. She started diving at the age of 40, and in her first competition took gold and a world record! That wouldn’t be her last record-breaking dive; during her career, she broke 42 world records and won 23 world titles. To Natalia, freediving was more philosophical than sporting. She died in 2015 while diving with students off the Spanish coast; her body was never found.
