Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the poor should be taxed more
24 March
During the 2018 Spring Meetings in Washington, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said taxing the poor has a greater impact on their behaviour. He argued that in the case of sugar beverages, for example, if the prices were made unaffordable for the poor, they would live longer, as a large amount of sugar leads to obesity and possibly cancer. Bloomberg withdrew as a candidate for the 2020 Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States.
