As the coronavirus epidemic began to take hold, there was a lack of understanding, protective gear, and specialist treatment. As the pandemic grew, the disease reaped a gruesome harvest among doctors and nurses facing the challenge. Paediatrician Mikhail from Moscow, Samar Sinjab, a GP from Venice, and soon-to-be-married clinician Mike from Indonesia were just a few of the everyday heroes who gave their lives so that others might live.
