You're my Type: The Donor Lottery

Leukaemia patients get a fighting chance thanks to genetic ‘twin’ donors.

Blood diseases like leukaemia and certain types of anaemia are only treatable through bone marrow or stem cell transplants. Relatives can’t always act as donors, so many patients rely on luck and kindness of complete, yet compatible, strangers. But finding a match can be extremely difficult, and about 3-4 thousand people in Russia end up dying each year unable to find a suitable donor. Personal stories of happy endings, heartbreaking losses and life-changing encounters are revealed in the RTD documentary You're my Type: The Donor Lottery .
