Surviving gang violence in RTD’s El Salvador documentaries

El Salvador is a country torn apart by gang violence. The capital San Salvador is divided into different gang turfs where children as young as eight are recruited. Some of the areas are places even the police won’t go. However, there is one group who will venture into the most dangerous places, risking their lives to help others. The Rescue Commandos are volunteer paramedics, many are ex-gang members, and they give first aid to people caught up in the gun violence. Their story is told in the documentary Saviour St.
