Seeking comfort in Cumbian rhythms
Millions of Argentinians move to the energetic beat and catchy lyrics of cumbia music. The traditional Latin American style strikes a chord with men and women, and young and old, mostly from poor neighbourhoods. RT’s Francisco Guaita talks to some cumbia fans and singers to find out why this genre is so popular in Argentina.

Cumbia music is hugely popular in Argentina and Latin America. Drum beats with the sounds of maracas and flutes fused with Spanish singing, guitar, and accordion create the distinctive cumbia sound.
