Ukraine: Heading East
Donbass residents taking refuge in Russia
Donbass residents fleeing southeast Ukraine after eight years of shelling and destruction by Ukrainian government forces. Some of the refugees used relief corridors, and others waited out for the Russian soldiers to come and help them out. The rest chose to risk their lives and look for the exit independently. All of them found shelter in Russia. Russian volunteers, psychologists, priests help the fugitives settle, put the children in school, and recover from eight years of shelling and constant danger. So why did Ukraine claim the region, at the same time, was keen on destroying it?
