World War II Leaders

The hidden side of the Big Three relations

Two years into WWII, the USA adopted the lend-lease programme to provide arms for Great Britain. It included military equipment, gear and supplies for the British to fight Nazi Germany. But Britain had to pay for it. The United Kingdom was nearly bankrupt, so the US agreed to be partly paid in territories, as well as political and military actions, which led to the downfall of the British colonial system. The help offered to the Soviet Union also came at a price. Given the problematic relationships between the leaders, Stalin never trusted either Roosevelt or Churchill, which led to intelligence failure and resulted in the Nazi attack on the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941. So how did the WWII Western Allies use WWII to benefit themselves?
