Limpopo the Luckiest Elephant
1 September
Limpopo was found orphaned when only a few days old. Luckily she’s been taken in by a couple who run an animal sanctuary. To get there, the baby elephant had to be flown, which was high risk. Poachers probably killed Limpopo’s parents, and she would have been left to die. Now she is being cared for with special high-calcium milk feeds to help her bones grow and mature. If all goes well, after five years or so, she’ll be returned to the wild.
