Off-course flamingo rescued in Siberia

19 May

Flamingos are tropical birds, so when one turned up in frozen Siberia, it was a big surprise. The bird was emaciated, and its feathers were falling out due to lack of food. It’s now on the road to recovery in the care of a local vet. It’s not the first time a flamingo has been found in snowy Siberia when they should be sunning themselves in the tropics. Scientists are baffled as to why the migratory bird headed north rather than south for the winter.
