The prolonged agony after the civil war in RTD’s Libya documentaries
Libya has become a death-trap on land and in water. Mines left over from the civil war are still killing people, and emigrants risk their lives in leaky boats offshore. RTD’s Libya documentaries highlight the risky work done by amateurs trying to clear the country of ordnance and landmines in the film Mine Country. The power vacuum in Libya has made it ideal for people smuggling of desperate migrants wanting to get to Europe. However, many don’t get much further than the Mediterranean and drown. One Tunisian fisherman has made it his life’s work to bury those who’d bodies are retrieved from the sea.
