Cyberscammers

Virtual robbery on the rise

Everyone has once received calls from shady tech support or bank security about an account breach that can only be repaired if the owner gives up their credit card information. As a result, phone frauds have become extremely popular as a tempting source of easy money.

The Indian city of Kolkata has been recently referred to as the capital of Internet fraud. A district known as ‘Sector 5’ has become home to hundreds of scammers. Their victims live thousands of kilometres away from India – in Great Britain, the USA and Canada. That’s why the light in many windows of Sector 5 buildings is on all night. Shifts start here when a day dawns on another continent. The people who work there are not riddled with remorse – they are convinced that they are just doing their job. So how does this business work?
