War Correspondents-2. 'Birdman' and 'Good Girl' Olya
What’s it like to chronicle life under constant shelling?
For many months, war correspondents have lived in trenches whilst putting their lives on the line for the sake of journalism. They travel through the hot zones of Donbass to show the world what’s really happening. Though journalists have no military education, they had to learn how to react while under shelling or drones' crosshairs.
Correspondent Andrey Filatov has been in the trenches with Russian soldiers for almost a year and a half. He describes the days as arduous and busy that yesterday's events may feel like something from several years ago. Despite the challenging conditions, Andrey not only continues his work as a reporter but also shares his experience on the frontlines. He teaches soldiers how to operate drones and survey the enemy territory.
Correspondent Olga Kurlaeva also shares her experience of working in a conflict zone. Often, Olga is the first to find herself in the midst of emergency situations, reporting from the scene without faltering. Watch the documentary to witness firsthand why the war correspondents' work is vital.
