Home Sweet Home with a Gramophone – A Clown’s Life Ep. 9
Deryabkin’s travelling circus is closed for the season. Back in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Vladimir sets about reopening a gramophone museum owned by his father, who is also a legendary clown. The elder Deryabkin shares his experience of working his way up from the circus stables in Soviet times into St. Petersburg’s ‘golden book’, one of the city’s highest honours. He also explains why he decided to retire from performing while still in his prime. Despite some unhappy surprises, the museum renovation goes well, and the public appears to be interested. However, the younger Vladimir is heartbroken when his father agrees to sell one of the museum’s finest exhibits. Intent on filling the hole in the collection, he sets off to find an even better gramophone to replace it.
