6 hard-hitting Feminism documentaries that challenge preconceptions about women’s roles
RTD’s feminism documentaries turn the spotlight on women exercising their rights and taking on roles that had previously been strictly male-only, from women pastors in Rwanda to girls at a boxing club in Pakistan. However, our films also show that taking on a male identity is nothing new, as with the Bacha Posh in Afghanistan, where girls publically live as boys to help their families. Our feminism documentaries also hear from those who believe feminism has gone too far, from men falsely accused of harassment in Israel, to critics of the radical feminist protest group Femen.
Boxing may not be a traditionally female pursuit, but in Pakistan, some girls have picked up the sport to give them the skills to defend themselves.
