Battle for Africa

Africa becomes world's new centre of attraction

Decades after gaining their independence African people still suffer from economic and political pressure from the West. ‘The former colonies were said to be somewhat independent, but, in reality, they continued to rely on French policies in all spheres. We want to choose our own partners, and have the opportunity to decide how our resources will be used’, says CEO of Bamako Higher School of Journalism Aboubacar Maiga. Today, Africa accounts for 35% of the world’s mineral resources yet they haven’t been fully explored. Democratic Republic of Congo alone accounts for half of the world’s cobalt reserves without which no military or hi-tech industry can develop. The future of the globe depends on these resources that pushes more countries to fight for Africans’ sympathies. Which one will succeed?
