Kenyan boys forced into prostitution
Ali Salim Mwakupigwa, a young man from Kenya, met an older German woman on the beach. She offered him money in exchange for sex. Ali was 20 years old, so he had to accept the offer. Many young men make that choice — droughts have caused famine in Kenya, and there are no jobs. Sometimes people spend days without food. This is why sex with European retirees becomes a viable option, and many young men consider themselves lucky to find such a sponsor. Ali is married and has kids, but his wife doesn’t mind him having sex with older women. She’s happy her husband brings food to the table at the end of the say. But volunteers and nonprofits working in the area are trying to look for a way to stop young men and women from getting involved in sex tourism. Can it be done?
