Russia’s Military Police in Syria
The Kalashnikova Show is in Syria with a close-up look at Russia’s military police (MP). The Russian military police began operation in Syria in 2016. They provide security at checkpoints and facilities of the Khmeimim Air Base, escort aid convoys and ensure safety on the roads. The military police is also in charge of bringing civil order in districts after heavy fighting.
Military police have their special vehicles, including the Kamaz Typhoon armoured trucks. It’s a an armoured capsule designed to carry a squad. To monitor the situation from the inside, the truck is equipped with exterior cameras. Another is the GAZ Tigr armoured vehicle, able to travel at 140 kilometres per hour and carry up to 1,500 kilograms.
Finally, host Anna Knishenko joins Russia’s military police on a patrol mission.
