The making of Russian Special Forces commando who made the ultimate sacrifice
The distinguishing features of Russia's elite Spetsnaz soldiers include their maroon berets, unparalleled physical fitness and ability to make the right decisions at lightning speed. Evgeny Epov was one such soldier; he made the ultimate sacrifice and saved the lives of several of his comrades. A month before he was due to get married, fate landed him in a North Caucasus battlefield where he threw himself on top of a grenade that had been lobbed at his unit by anti-government militants. They say that a hero and a coward both feel fear the same way, but that a hero reacts by stepping forward and a coward reacts by stepping back. This film is about those who are always stepping forward.
