The last generation of shepherds

Every year, the shepherds of Dagestan take their flocks to cool, distant mountain medows so that the sheep may graze. However, many Dagestanis see no future in this traditional lifestyle and many children are tempted to leave their shepherd fathers' professions in the past. Shepherds must spend months on the road, subsisting on simple diets of meat and bread and living in makeshift accomodations. These days, the cost of wool is too low for the profession to be considered worth the effort. RTDoc gives you a look at the shepherds and their families, as well as the sheep, the dogs, the clothes and  the food.
