The Korean Peninsula has been divided for decades, and in that time, the two countries North and South, have developed on very different paths. The communist regime has kept North Korea closed and isolated, whereas South Korea has experienced an economic boom, with one of the highest income-per-capita rates in Asia. However, with prosperity comes pressure for the young to succeed and make more of themselves than their parents. The government has to control the overworking to stop the working population burning themselves out.
