Without recognition, a country is in limbo. In many places around the world, there are pockets where people are demanding autonomy. RTD’s series Seeking Recognition visits four self-declared states that are unrecognized by most of the wider world. One such country is South Ossetia, born out of the ill-conceived conflict instigated by Georgia. In Georgia’s Gamble Revisited, we look at the effect of the short war on the people of South Ossetia, and their fight for international recognition.
