Dark net dope deals
The shadow network for the drug trade
The annual turnover of illegal drugs in Russia is estimated at over 240 billion rubles. Online trade platforms mainly distribute dope on the Dark Web. They offer anonymity and security and don’t require any personal contacts. When one is shut down, the next one appears in no time.
Cheap drugs and easy money attract those young and desperate. As a result, the total number of dope users in Russia has reached 18 million. Many of them are recruited as drop men, those who stash drugs and send their coordinates to clients. Today police effectively hunt down dope labs and dealers. Volunteers offer their help, too – for example, in a real-time map of drug deals across Moscow. But the internet war on drugs is yet to be won.
