The Dorm (E1): Adventures in Russian student accommodation
Akhmed has come to Moscow from his small hometown, Vyksa, to study at the MIT of Russia, Bauman State University. He had always wanted to live in the dorms, thinking it would be “cool.” The first month proved difficult. Not only did he have to deal with rigorous studies, but also learn to cook, clean, do laundry, and everything else for himself. Akhmed has the same plan everyday: Come back to the dorm, have lunch, and study till the evening… but it never works. His roommates Andrey and Dmitry, his neighbour Arseny, and his mentor Kostya always provide welcome distractions. Today, Akhmed became so engrossed in his passion for buying shoes (he has 12 pairs!) that he forgot that it’s his turn to cook dinner for his roommates. But no worries – with pasta, ketchup, and mayonnaise, he’s confident he can whip up a feast fit for three kings in no time… and stay within their $7.50 per week food budget.
