The Dorm (E14): An Unexpected Melody
Arseny has decided to take up the guitar. As an impecunious student, he’s hired the cheapest teacher he could find. Their arrival brings some consternation, however. Not only is the tutor armed with a saxophone instead of a guitar, but Arseny’s choice turns out to be a girl… a drop-dead gorgeous one at that. The lesson gets off to a rough start, as Arseny is locked out of his own room. They end up retreating to Akhmed and Andrey’s, where the stunning musician conducts a raucous group lesson. The session ends with a group recital that makes everyone proud, but they are taken aback to discover that they’re all expected to pay. In the absence of enough funds to pay off the unexpected debt, the boys take their instruments onto the streets to busk for the deficit. Arseny suspects that most passers-by are paying them not to play, rather than through appreciation of their virtuosity.
